Just last week news broke that Amazon Studios had obtained the North American distribution rights for James Grey’s Lost City of Z starring Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson after Paramount had pulled out of the initial deal.

Now, a deal between Bleeker Street and Amazon Studios has closed, which will give the film company the rights for theatrical release. According to THR, “Amazon is putting the finishing touches on the deal with Andrew Karpen’s Bleecker Street to release the James Gray-helmed film in spring 2017 — though the rollout plan is still being worked out. Amazon’s Bob Berney will spearhead the marketing and distribution.”

Bleeker Street focuses mainly on independent type films doing limited release for each so it is yet to be seen how the distribution for Lost City of Z will play out. Other titles from the studio include Pawn Sacrifice, Eye in the Sky, Trumbo and Anthropoid which means the film is in good hands. Add to this the enormous postive buzz the film has already received  and it is primed to be a hit in spring of 2017.

For now, fans who are lucky enough to obtain tickets for the upcoming New York Film Festival will be able to screen the film as it holds the coveted closing night spot on October 15.
